  • Kenya Purple Tea

    $7.00

This is a hand-picked purple tea from Kenya.  It is Fairtrade, non-GMO, and Rainforest Alliance certified. While not certified organic, no pesticides or chemicals were used on these leaves.  The body is light and the vegetal note is similar to a Chinese green tea, with a hint of sweet finish. Low in caffeine, the colour of the brew is somewhere between light red and light purple. This special varietal is only grown in Kenya (as far as we know of now). The leaf naturally has a hint of purple hue because of a mutation that resulted in the production of an antioxidant called anthocyanin, a compound that you will also find in other purple food such as blueberries, blackcurrants, and pomegranate. ...
